The European Parliament has adopted new rules for consumer information for certain foods
The European Parliament (EP) has accepted the amendment of the “breakfast directives”, the EP announced.
According to a statement from the Hungarian Liaison Office of the EP, the aim of the revision of the guidelines was to enable consumers to make more informed and healthier decisions about products such as honey, fruit juice, jam and jam.
The rules approved according to the preliminary political agreement concluded with the Council require that the country of origin of the honey be clearly visible on the label, with the intention of acting mainly against the import of counterfeit honey from non-EU countries. The regulation also provides for the establishment of a traceability system for EU honey.
The new rules provide for clearer labeling of the sugar content of fruit juices and introduce new regulations for fruits in jams and jams.
