The annual growth rate of food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices slowed to 2.6 percent in March in the eurozone
In accordance with the preliminary estimate, the annual inflation in the euro zone slowed down in March, according to the final data published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, on Wednesday.
In March, the annual increase in the consumer price index in the euro area was 2.4 percent, after 2.6 percent in February. A year earlier, in March of last year, annual inflation in the euro area stood at 6.9 percent.
In a monthly comparison, also in line with the preliminary estimate, consumer prices in the euro area increased by 0.8 percent in March after 0.6 percent in February.
In March, energy prices were 1.8 percent lower than a year earlier, following a 3.7 percent decrease in February.
The annual growth rate of the prices of food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products slowed to 2.6 percent in March from 3.9 percent in February. In March, services also became more expensive, the same as the previous month, by 4 percent year-on-year.
