More resistant grape varieties are under experimentation in Szekszárd
In the scope of a three-year long EU program, grape varieties are under experimentation in the plantation of the Mészáros Borház Borászati Kft. in Szekszárd, that are more resistant against fungal diseases.
The European Regional Development Fund gave a 94 million HUF support to start the project in 2012. Mészáros Pál, owner of the ltd. told MTI that two blue and two white pathogens resistant wine grape varieties will be tested; on a total of two acres..
It is expected that no fertilizers will be needed for these kind of grapes even during downy mildew and powdery mildew epidemics. (MTI)
