In August, the economic index of GKI did not change
According to a survey conducted by GKI Gazdaságkutátó – with the support of the EU – in August, the prospects of the business sector worsened only within a margin of error compared to July, but the population became slightly more optimistic. Thus, the value of the GKI business cycle index essentially did not change compared to July. Companies’ employment intentions deteriorated slightly, but their plans to raise prices did not change significantly. The predictability of the farming environment has definitely decreased compared to the previous month.
The summary indicator of corporate and residential prospects, the GKI economic index, was virtually unchanged in August compared to the previous month. The GKI business confidence index, an indicator expressing the prospects of the entrepreneurial sector, has been moving in a fairly narrow range for a long time. The index fell by half a point in the current month, so it did not break out in August either – i.e. the trend reversal is still waiting to happen. In August, the confidence indices of the sector moved only within the statistical margin of error, the commercial and construction sectors went up, and those of the industrial and service sectors went down. The most pessimistic news continues to come from the construction industry. In industry, the assessment of the order book deteriorated slightly, there was no change in the assessment of self-produced stocks and the expected production outlook in the next three months. In the construction industry, the assessment of the order book improved noticeably, but employment expectations worsened. In trade, satisfaction with the course of business in the previous three months has definitely worsened, inventory valuations have slightly improved, and expected orders in the next three months have noticeably improved. In the service sector, the employment plans for the next three months became slightly less favorable, while the assessment of the course of business and turnover expectations hardly changed.
In August, the willingness of enterprises to hire slightly worsened compared to July, but the proportion of those planning to expand or reduce the number of employees is approximately the same now. In the business sector, the overall price increase plans did not change. The predictability of the farming environment has noticeably deteriorated compared to the previous month.
