The foreign trade surplus of the euro area has declined
In August, the foreign trade surplus of the euro area declined and was lower than expected, according to Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office.
In August, the trade surplus of the 19 member states of the euro area, concluded with the rest of the world declined to 16.1 billion euros, compared to 17.5 billion euros of a year before.
The market expects a surplus of 23.3 billion euros for August, after the 23.2 billion euros surplus of July.
The euro area exported goods worth 171.5 billion euros in August, 6.8 percent more than the 160.6 billion euros in August 2016. Import was 155.4 billion euros in August, 8.6 percent more than a year before. (MTI)
