AM: Farmers will be helped with free irrigation this year too
This year, farmers will be helped with free irrigation, and similarly to last year, the government will exempt farmers from the agricultural water supply fee through state-owned water facilities in 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) told MTI on Wednesday.
According to the statement, irrigation is the basis of safe crop production and food supply. The Ministry of Agriculture is therefore using all means to help farmers adapt to the changed climatic conditions. Those affected can count on the government to ensure production conditions and maintain market competitiveness, as it has done so far.
In order to continuously maintain the production of agricultural products and ensure food security, the state will also assume the water service fee for irrigation, rice production and fish farming from producers this year. Farmers can thus access irrigation water free of charge through state-owned water facilities (main works), they wrote.
