Agrometeorology: more showers will ease the drought
The early summer, rainy weather will continue, rainfall exceeding 20-30 millimeters may fall in a large area until the middle of next week, but the regional differences are expected to be large again – HungaroMet Zrt. wrote in its agrometeorological analysis on Thursday.
During the past week, the warm, rainy and thundery weather continued, during the past 10 days, between 10 and 50 millimeters of precipitation fell in most parts of the country, in some places it was much more, but the regional differences were large, in Mezőföld and in Hajdúság and only a little rain fell in patches on the Sárrét. The upper 50-centimeter layer of the soil is sufficiently moist in many places in the west and north, but there is a significant lack of moisture, especially in the Great Plains and the southeastern part of Transdanubia, where the extent of drought areas is increasing again, they explained.
The temperature in the country was 1-2 degrees Celsius above the long-term average, the minimums were above 10 degrees, the maximums were around 25 degrees, slightly above
The autumn sowings are two to three weeks earlier in their development than usual, the ears of corn are in the grain development phase, and the autumn cabbage rape is in the seed formation phase. Ears and canola find a satisfactory amount of moisture in the soil in most places. There is no great heat, so the phase of seed and seed formation is not shortened, they wrote. In many places, the rain came at the last minute for the sunflower and corn stocks, they developed in drought conditions in most parts of the country until the middle of May, but the current warm, rainy weather creates good conditions for intensive growth. However, the waterlogged soil also favors the development of weeds, and the boards were hit by ice in some places, they noted.
According to the forecast, early summer weather will remain
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as well as on Monday and Tuesday, heavy rain, thunderstorms and downpours are expected in many places. Precipitation exceeding 20-30 millimeters may fall in large areas until the middle of next week, but regional differences are expected to be large again. The leaf surface of the plants will be permanently wet in many places, especially the denser stands may be exposed to fungal diseases. The temperature does not change significantly: the air typically cools down between 10-15 degrees at night, and 23-29 degrees can be expected during the day.
