Agrometeorology: in large areas, especially in the Alföld and the Kisalföld, the water stands on the land
In large areas of the country, especially in the Alföld and the Kisalföld, there is standing water in the fields, which makes it difficult to sow in the mild weather, the National Meteorological Service wrote in its agrometeorological forecast on Thursday.
They recalled that last week on Friday and Saturday, precipitation fell in a large area, partly snow in the country, most of it fell in the northern part of Transdanubia, where 40-70 millimeters fell in two days, and 20 centimeters of snow accumulated in some places. The amount of precipitation in the last 30 days exceeds 100 millimeters in a large area, and the amount for 90 days exceeds 200 millimeters, both figures are significantly more than the average for many years throughout the country. The upper one-meter layer of soils is in a saturated state in most parts of the country. It was written about the temperature that intense warming began from Sunday, the maximums were over 10 degrees Celsius, in many places around 15 degrees, and only weak frosts occurred at night.

They added that autumn crops can withstand permanent water coverage below 4-5 degrees Celsius, but mild weather like the past few days can only last for three weeks at most, and the water has been stagnant for more than a month in places on the Alföld. According to the forecast, the weather will continue to be mild, there may only be weak frosts at night, maximums of around 10 degrees are expected during the day, and it will be cooler only in permanently foggy areas. From Sunday, rain will arrive again in several waves, but only in smaller amounts.
