Agrometeorology: rain would be good, but precipitation will arrive unevenly
Rain would be good for crops in the fields, but the distribution of precipitation will be very uneven in the period until Saturday – wrote HungaroMet Zrt. in its agrometeorological analysis on Thursday. According to this, the weather turned wetter last week, but the territorial distribution of precipitation shows large differences.

In the past 10 days, the central and northern parts of the country received a larger amount of 20-40 millimeters, while in the wider Rába region and a significant part of the Great Plain, only 2-10 millimeters fell. In these areas, the upper layer of the soil continued to lose moisture, especially in the Lesser Plain and the Great Plain, where the layer near the surface dried out critically. The temperature varied: on Thursday the daily heat record was broken, but on Friday the temperature barely rose in the overcast, rainy weather, falling by 10-14 degrees Celsius in many places, and over the weekend the minimums dropped below 10 degrees with few clouds. The air has already warmed up this week, with a typical peak value of around 25 degrees. The daily average of the soil temperature measured at 5 centimeters is currently between 15-18 degrees.
The spring development of the autumn sowings is progressing well due to the favorable temperature and soil moisture, rapeseed is blooming, wheat is in the stem initiation phase
The temperature conditions are good for the germination and early development of corn and sunflower, but the soil layer near the surface is too dry in many places. Most fruit trees in most parts of the country have already bloomed or are at the end of flowering, while apples and pears are now blooming in the favorable warm weather.
According to the forecast, precipitation is expected in many places until Saturday
Persistent rain is possible in the west, showers and thunderstorms are expected in the east, with precipitation of between 10-30 millimeters, with great regional variability. In most places, the upper soil layer will be wet, which is favorable for the early development of summer-growing plants. The foliage of plants will be wet frequently and permanently, which may cause the spread of fungal diseases. A slightly cooler and drier period will begin from Sunday, dawns will be cold from Sunday until the middle of next week, and light frosts may also occur in frosty areas, but this will not be the norm.
