The performance of the Hungarian food industry grew by 1.5 percent last year
The performance of the Hungarian food industry grew by 1.4 – 1.5 percent last year, exceeding the industry average. The value of production amounted to 2880 billion HUF after the 2831 billion HUF of 2015 – the vice president of the National Association of Agricultural Economics (NAK) said on Monday in Budapest at a press conference.
Éder Tamás explained that the domestic sales of the food industry increased to 1713 billion HUF, from the 1681 billion HUF of a year before. In addition to the 1.6 percent increase in exports, domestic sales grew by 1.2 percent last year. Thus, because the domestic food retail sales increased more significantly, by 3 percent, the Hungarian food industry lost domestic market again – Éder Tamás said. He indicated that the proportion of Hungarian products in grocery stores is about 70 percent. (MTI)
