The fruit and vegetable processing industry gives 8-10 percent of Hungarian food production. 55-65 percent of the fruit and vegetable consumption is processed products – Cseh László, president of the Hungarian Association of Refrigeration and Canning Industry said in Budapest on Thursday.
Cseh László at the meeting of the National Assembly’s Horticultural Subcommittee said that the value of the processed raw materials is 70-72 billion HUF a year, while the value of product output reaches 155-160 billion HUF.
The firms are selling 50-90 percent of their products abroad. The annual export value is 380-400 million euros (around 114-120 billion HUF). (MTI)
