Slaughter pig prices down, poultry prices up at the beginning of the year
According to AKI slaughter statistics, 170,000 tonnes (live weight) of poultry were slaughtered in Hungary in the first three months of 2025, 5% less than in January-March 2024.

From this quantity broilers accounted for 137,100 tonnes (+7%) and turkeys for 17,400 tonnes (+3.8%). AKI PÁIR data reveals that the live weight producer price of broilers in Hungary grew by 5.4% to HUF 435.1/kg, while that of turkeys climbed 3.4% to HUF 617.2/kg in the first 18 weeks of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year.
The processing sales price of chicken breast fillets was HUF 1,929/kg (+12.6%). According to data from the European Commission, the average EU price for whole chicken was EUR 282/100kg in the first 18 weeks of 2025, which was almost 8% higher than in the previous year. AKI PÁIR data say the producer price of domestic slaughter pigs (excluding VAT and transport costs) was HUF 760/kg for hot carcass weight in April 2025, down 9% from the average price a year earlier. Hungary’s live pig exports decreased by 3.3% to 5,600 tonnes in January-February 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
