Tesco is introducing cheaper own-brand products in its Expressz stores
Tesco is introducing cheaper own-brand products in its Expressz stores in response to rising living costs and changing customer behaviour. The supermarket chain is replacing more than 50 products in its smaller stores with better-priced alternatives to increase its competitiveness with German discount chains such as Aldi and Lidl. The purpose of the change is to retain saving customers and increase competitiveness.
The transformation will take place in several stages, the process will start in two weeks and will be completed by the end of August. The Which? a study by a consumer protection organization showed that products in Tesco Express stores are often more expensive than in larger stores, which means increasing costs for customers. Tesco’s goal with this step is to reduce the price of products in smaller stores and become more competitive against discount chains, reports MSN.
