The industry asked the government to extend the suspension of the advertising tax
The Hungarian Advertising Association (MRSZ) appealed to the government to extend the suspension of the advertising tax until January 1 due to the economic crisis, the association informed MTI on Tuesday. Cabinet Minister Antal Rogán indicated that the government will consider the request.
János Gulyás, the president of the association, had a discussion with Antall Rogán, the prime minister’s chief of staff, about suspending the advertising tax for this year, which was announced in May by the Minister of Economic Development, Márton Nagy, along with several other special taxes.
In the letter sent to the Prime Minister and during discussions with the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, the MRSZ repeated its previously published arguments. Antal Rogán indicated in relation to the request of the MRSZ that the cabinet would consider their request.
According to their arguments, the advertising and media industry understands that the Hungarian budget is in a difficult situation, but according to the unanimous opinion of the profession, the return of the advertising tax works against economic stabilization and growth. According to them, in the current severely weakened macroeconomic environment burdened by the severe energy crisis, the tax could crush the advertising industry, which is already showing a declining performance.
