Too much wine is a problem too!
According to data from the National Council of Wine Communities, 392,000 tons of grapes was harvested in Hungary in 2018, from which 3.75 million hectolitres of wine was made – 30 percent more than in 2017. At EU level the 2018 vintage was 27 percent bigger than in the previous year, and a large quantity of wine is being stored in Europe. Because of this, Hungary’s Ministry of Agriculture has decided to offer a grant to grape growers that won’t be able to sell their grapes: growers can get a HUF 300,000-1,000,000 compensation per hectare. //
