The recipe for successful market growth starts with a satisfied workforce
In recent years, many uncertainties have surrounded not only the major global economic players, but also their individual driving forces, the employees themselves. The coronavirus pandemic, inflationary environment, or even news of an acquisition are just a few examples. However, a reliable logistics company such as DSV has not only solved these challenges, but is also prepared for new ones.
DSV A/S is a transportation and logistics company founded in Denmark in 1976, which offers global road, air and sea transport, as well as warehouse logistics services. All three divisions have their own functional role and autonomy, but at the same time they work in synergy for the sake of business goals. DSV’s history in Hungary began in 1995 with Frans Maas Hungária Kft., which joined the portfolio of the Danish logistics company in 2006. The growth was driven not only by expanding the market and exploiting new business opportunities, but also by successful acquisitions. In 2016, the company, then known as DSV, acquired UTi, in 2019 it merged with Panalpina, and in 2021 it further strengthened itself with the acquisition of Agility Global Integrated Logistics. The acquisitions offered an opportunity to combine the best practices of two companies to create an even more inclusive, diverse environment.
“The basis of successful growth is maintaining a balance between planning and flexibility,”
– said Judit Horváth, HR Director at DSV Hungary. She added that during the rapid growth, it was essential to create new positions or management levels, while also maintaining the stability of the structure.
At DSV, a key step in post-acquisition integration was to align the different corporate cultures. While maintaining equal opportunities and supporting diversity and inclusion, as the merging of different corporate cultures is always a sensitive process for employees.
