Profession.hu connects employees with domestic civil society organizations through free job advertisements
Hungarian employees find companies that offer the opportunity to support civic foundations with voluntary work during working hours particularly attractive – according to a national, online survey representative of the Hungarian population. Most would like to support a cause that they are connected to and that matches their values.
44 percent of Hungarians would be happy to do voluntary work for foundations in the near future – most would support good causes with light physical work, intellectual activity related to their expertise, or by collecting donations. They consider the most important thing for an organization to be that the given organization represents a cause that is relevant to them, represents similar values to them, and that someone they know has experience working together – according to a national survey by Profession.hu.
Young people have more volunteer experience
On average, one in three Hungarians has done some type of volunteer work, but among 16-25 year-olds this rate is significantly higher, at 45% – partly due to the previously introduced mandatory community service. The majority of them (68%) had particularly positive experiences and only a small minority reported negative experiences, mostly because the task they undertook took more time than they expected.
We find workplaces that support volunteering attractive
70 percent of respondents find employers that regularly support NGOs to be particularly attractive, and the same number prefer companies that provide their employees with the opportunity to volunteer for foundations during part of their working hours. One in five employees reported that they have the opportunity to do so in their current position.
