In the market, a real relationship develops between trader and buyer
It is important that by purchasing domestic products, we help preserve domestic jobs, self-sufficiency and overcome economic difficulties as soon as possible – declared Márton Nobilis, the Secretary of State responsible for food industry and trade policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, at the handover ceremony of the market in Bercel.
The state secretary explained that when they launched the support for the development of small agricultural plants, including the tender “Development of infrastructure and equipment for markets serving local product sales” on October 2, 2020, they were looking for partners who wanted to give local producers the opportunity to sell their products locally . Those who understand that by supporting the use of local raw materials they also contribute to the development of the local economy, and for whom it is important that domestic, high-quality, healthy and fresh food is on the table of as many Hungarian families as possible – he added.
The call for tenders was addressed to rural municipalities, local ethnic municipalities and non-profit organizations
They could submit a maximum of HUF 100 million for the creation and development of new or existing markets and fairgrounds serving local product sales. The intensity of the support was between 85% and 95%. The Municipality of Bercel Municipality became one of the 362 partners who submitted a successful application for support last summer to the call announced as part of the Rural Development Program. As a result, the settlement received a total of HUF 68.8 million in support. The 362 applications received a total of HUF 27.69 billion in support requests. Decisions will be made continuously from May 2021, so 149 applications already have supporting documents, the awarded support is HUF 11.75 billion, of which a total of HUF 3.36 billion has already been paid. State Secretary Dr. Márton Nobilis expressed his joy at the opening of the market regarding the development the village has undergone in the past period. In addition to the market square, the center and the village hall were also renewed. He congratulated the mayor of the settlement, Tibor Bercel Batta, and parliamentarian Mihály Balla for this work. In a settlement, the market is always a real community space, one of the centers of the town. I believe that the market in Bercel shows: well-thought-out, small-scale developments can give impetus to the development of a region – concluded the state secretary.
