Finance is the new engineering and IT sector on the domestic labor market
The current situation of those working in the financial and accounting field is similar to that of engineers and IT specialists a few years ago: there is an exceptional demand for these employees, companies have a high demand for human resources, and at the same time, active employees can and do choose from a wide range of options: it is common for them to submit their application to several places at the same time – a recent salary analysis by Profession.hu points out. The resulting situation entails a continuous increase in the wage demands of the employees concerned.
For the first time, Profession Services, the recruitment division of Profession.hu, compiled its analysis of the financial sector. The wage benchmark publication shows an accurate and up-to-date picture of the industry and provides useful information for the actors about the current labor market situation, trends, and wages.
The sector underwent a significant transformation with the appearance of service centers (SSCs, BSSs) in Hungary. On the one hand, the expectations of financial and accounting positions have changed, instead of high-level specialist knowledge, thorough knowledge of a foreign language has become the focus of the criteria. On the other hand, due to the international background of the companies, the industry requires less flexibility from the employees than previously experienced – they often have to work in a different time zone, even on a holiday. These changes mostly favor young people, who are more likely to have a high-level knowledge of at least one foreign language in their lives, and who also adapt more easily to the changed work schedule.
