The export value of 15 of the 24 commodity groups of agricultural and food industry products increased

The value of exports of agricultural and food industry products was 6,630 million euros, and the value of imports was 5,103 million euros in the first half of 2023, the asset of agricultural foreign trade was 1,528 million euros, 614.4 million euros less than in the first six months of 2022. The export value of agricultural and food industry products increased by 1.5 percent and the import value by 16.3 percent, the balance worsened by 28.7 percent compared to the value of the first half of 2022.

In the first six months of 2023, the export price index of agricultural foreign trade increased by 15.3 percent and the import price index by 12.6 percent, the exchange rate index improved by 2.4 percent in the examined period compared to the base period. The value of national economic exports rose by 11.5 percent, and imports by 1.3 percent. The share of agricultural and food industry products in the total export value of the national economy in the first half of 2023 was 8.6 percent, and 7 percent of the import value.

It decreased to 9 product groups in the first half of 2023 compared to the base period. The sales revenue of tobacco products (KN24) increased by the highest value (+114.7 million euros), since the price of tobacco extract and reclaimed tobacco, among the most valuable products of the product group, was two to three times higher than a year earlier. The sales revenue of animal feed (KN23) increased by 102.6 million euros, that of meat products (KN02) by 88.5 million euros, and that of sugar and sugar products (KN17) by 81.7 million euros in the examined period compared to the base.

The largest drop in export value affected cereals (KN10) (-154.5 million euros)

Primarily due to the 11 and 24.4 percent drop in the prices of wheat and corn, respectively. The export value of oilseeds (KN12) was EUR 133.9 million less compared to the base, as the export of rapeseed fell by 48.9 percent and the export of sunflower seed by 32.9 percent.
