McDonald’s has finished testing its plant-based burgers
Starting in mid-February, McDonald’s tested its new plant-based burger, the McPlant, in about 600 American stores.
Although the company has not yet released how the new product performed, some analysts have already reported that interest in McPlant was weaker than expected.
According to BTIG analyst Peter Saleh, San Francisco seems to have had the greatest interest in McPlant, but even there the product only met the lowest sales forecasts with 125-130 orders per week, while in Dallas it was 30 percent below that.
Regardless of how the new burger performed, analysts say it is unlikely that the product will appear in stores before the second half of 2022.
