The majority of Hungarians have good relationships with their colleagues and home office has not changed this
Seven out of ten Hungarian employees say that the atmosphere at their workplace is good, and according to a recent study, this is even more likely to happen in smaller companies. Most of them enjoy having personal conversations with their colleagues and are happy to meet outside of work. In such cases, they prefer informal parties and joint celebrations. Where home offices are not possible, it is often assumed that working from home would damage human relationships, but practical experiences are rather positive. In a national, representative survey, Profession.hu examined how Hungarian employees currently feel about the atmosphere at work and what kind of relationship they have with their colleagues. The good news is that the results show a positive picture: 23 percent of them say that the atmosphere is particularly good, and another 47 percent say that the atmosphere is rather good. Interestingly, the smaller a workplace is, the higher this proportion is. In addition, not surprisingly, shorter working hours also have a positive effect on well-being: those who work four hours a day feel the best at work.
Where there is no possibility to work from home, the majority of employees (59%) believe that home office can have a negative impact on the atmosphere at work – on the other hand, those who have experience with it claim that their human relationships with their colleagues have either improved (18%) or not changed at all (56%).
Although most people tend to have private conversations at the place of work (e.g. in the office or factory) or during lunch (38%), almost one in five employees also use online platforms for this. Most choose Facebook Messenger, Facebook groups or Viber in such cases.
Six out of ten employees also meet with colleagues outside the workplace. The most typical such occasions are festive events (45%), team building (37%), joint parties (23%) and thematic days (17%), such as a sports day or health day. Even more, three quarters of the respondents, are open to talking with colleagues outside of work.
