Hungarians prefer to pick up their online orders at parcel machines in the Central European region
Central European customers clearly prefer particularly fast home delivery – most often because something was left out during a previous shopping trip -, however, Hungarians would spend less on this compared to other countries, and while two-thirds of them request home delivery, parcel machines are still the most popular. This is revealed by the latest, representative research* of DODO, an international smart logistics company specializing in same-day delivery, which compared the ordering habits of four countries.
The proportion of those who prefer fast, same-day or even 90-minute delivery in Hungary corresponds to the Central European average: more than a quarter of webshop customers consider this the best delivery option – in the region, the demand for this solution is higher among Czechs and Slovaks, while for Germans it is less important. The research conducted among Hungarian, German, Czech and Slovak customers also reveals the main reasons behind the demand for same-day delivery.
In a regional comparison, in addition to indicating several answer options, the most important reason for using the fast delivery option is forgetfulness – this is especially true in Hungary with nearly 70 percent, only the Czechs have a higher proportion of those who choose the fastest possible home delivery for this reason. Compared to German customers, Hungarians order express delivery 20 percent more often because something is out of stock, but a similar proportion of reasons (53 percent) include the immediate replacement of a broken but intended product – the latter is more common among Czech and Slovak customers. Hungary is also ahead of Germany in terms of same-day delivery of planned purchases, almost twice as many people want to receive the products on the day of the order in these cases. Recognizing this advantage, the respondents are even willing to pay an extra amount for same-day delivery.
