Lidl tells UK farmers it will take drought-affected fresh produce
Lidl will sell “stunted” fruit and vegetables affected by the drought to support farmers and ensure food does not go to waste.

Lidl pledges support as it aims to help reduce food waste from irregular fruit and vegetables
The supermarket chain has written to its UK fresh produce suppliers in the face of the record heat and the driest summer for half a century to ask how it could help.
Where possible, it will now accommodate products hit by the drought, including those which are a different size than shoppers are used to. Lidl GB chief executive Ryan McDonnell called on other supermarkets to follow suit and said:
“Farmers across the country are facing a big challenge this year due to the extreme weather conditions experienced over the summer months.
