Aluminum waste is one of the most valuable wastes, as it is 100% recyclable, and its collection is not only useful from an economic point of view, but also serves to protect the environment. The program did its best to educate the Hungarian society on a wide scale about the benefits and necessity of the selective collection and recycling of aluminum: aluminum is energy-efficient and can be endlessly recycled, which means that a valuable raw material is available to people, which is still very much can serve a generation. Thanks to the initiative, less useful waste ended up on the streets and ditch banks, and besides the economic considerations, saving energy and protecting the natural environment, the collection machines also served a social cause. The forints paid for the collected empty tins helped socially disadvantaged people. The Returpack system has collected more than 1 billion aluminum boxes in the last 12 years in Hungary.
