Nielsen: European retail sales increased by almost 10 percent due to the coronavirus
The Covid-19 pandemic had a dramatic impact on retail: after a subdued start to the year, the sector produced 9.8 percent nominal growth in the first quarter of 2020, compared to the same period of last year.
In Hungary, the rate of expansion was almost double of that, 17.7 percent, with which the turnover of domestic retail trade maintained its silver medal on the continent. In Europe, Turkey continues to lead: it grew by 25.4 percent, according to Nielsen’s quarterly European “Growth Reporter” analysis. (Nielsen)
