The gross production value of the bread and fresh bakery sector increased the most in 2023
44 percent of the enterprises designated for data collection complied with their obligation to provide data. At the time of data collection, these food industry enterprises indicated the achievement of a net sales revenue 5 percent higher than in 2022 for the year 2023. In addition, a 47 percent decrease in other income and a 56 percent decrease in the value of capitalized own performance resulted in a 2 percent increase in the gross production value.
At the sectoral level, the increase in gross production value compared to 2022 was most significant in the case of the production of bread and fresh baked goods (+22 percent), meat processing and preservation (+18 percent) and the production of soft drinks and mineral water (+18 percent). Based on the March forecast of the reporting enterprises, in 2023, 93 percent of net sales and 52 percent of other income came from food industry activities, while the same share in 2022 was 92 percent of net sales and 38 percent of other income. Based on the information received, in addition to food industry activity, the businesses’ revenue came from the following areas: contract packaging, machine rental, contract storage, commercial activity related to integration, production of non-food products in addition to food production (e.g. medicinal water), income from the trade of products imported from the parent company.
