You can also taste the most delicious Hungarian dishes of the Carpathian Basin on Saint Stephen’s Day
Once again, the visitors of Saint Stephen’s Day can have an unforgettable gastronomic experience, as they can taste the most delicious dishes of the Carpathian Basin at the Csárdafestival and the Street of Magyar Ízek between August 17 and 20. At these locations, in addition to traditional meals, you can also try the specialties of modern Hungarian cuisine. Chef Lázár Kovács spoke to Szente Vajk, ambassador of St. Stephen’s Day, about the theme, food and cultural delicacies of the Csárdafestival.
For lovers of Hungarian flavors and folk traditions, the annual Csárdafestival is an unmissable program, where guests can not only enjoy their favorite Hungarian dishes, but also participate in authentic folk dance performances and folk music concerts. The well-known chef Lázár Kovács vouches for real culinary experiences – thanks to him, in addition to classic Hungarian dishes, Székely dishes and game dishes, traditional sausages, and other specialties made from pork are also on offer at the inns joining the event. Each tavern is prepared with a unique dish and a HUF 1,500 menu, so everyone can find something to their liking, whether it’s charcoal-roasted pig or the popular homemade lecsó.
The organizers paid particular attention to the fact that the food outlets offer products that can be consumed by visitors with various food allergies. All event venues will have food that does not contain gluten or lactose. The staff of each catering unit will provide information on their availability.
