Intersnack and SPAR provide meals for the patients of the Heim Pál Children’s Hospital
The manufacturer of Chio and Pom Bär products and SPAR Hungary donated more than HUF 4.1 million to the Heim Pál National Pediatric Institute. In the hospital, 600 portions of food are prepared every day, half of which is a gentle or diet menu, so it is necessary to develop the technological background of the kitchen. The donation can be used by the hospital to purchase equipment in which healthier meals can be prepared faster than before for the children and their accompanying parents.
At the Pál Heim National Pediatric Institute, nearly 34,000 inpatients are treated annually. More than a thousand covid patients were treated during the pandemic. According to doctors’ experience, some form of food allergy is becoming more and more common in children, and this must also be taken into account in hospital care.
“We rarely think about what else is needed in addition to high-quality medical treatment so that children can leave the hospital as soon as possible. Food also plays an important role in this. In our institute, we also prepare nearly forty types of gentle or diet menus, depending on what kind of illness a child has or what kind of food allergy they have. Of course, we also have to take care of the unique food sensitivities of parents accompanying their children”
– Norbert Palócz, economic director pointed out.
