The GVH closed 106 proceedings last year

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) closed 106 proceedings last year, which is an increase of about 9 percent over the previous year, the GVH said in its report on last year’s activities on Tuesday, which was approved by the Economic Committee of the Parliament.

In a statement issued by the Competition Authority, a record 8.4 billion HUF fine was imposed on competition authorities in 2020.

The GVH has taken strong action against unfair commercial practices, in particular to protect the interests of vulnerable consumer groups (the elderly, the sick, children).

The highest competition fines affected technology giants, they noted. (MTI)
