The focus of the current meeting was the simplification of the Common Agricultural Policy (KAP). Monday’s meeting of the EU agriculture ministers clearly stated that since it is difficult for European farmers to meet the challenges affecting the sector in this complex and strict EU regulatory environment, it is therefore necessary to change it, and the leaders and experts responsible for the operation of the agricultural support system of the member states have an important role to play in this. of his experience and work. In order to do this, the strategic plans of the member states must be truly strategic, their content must be simplified, while their amendments must be speeded up – stressed Zsolt Feldman, the state secretary responsible for agriculture and rural development.

In Hungary, within the framework of the KAP Strategic Plan, nearly HUF 5,300 billion will be used between 2023-2027

Of this amount of HUF 2,900 billion in agricultural and rural development support, the Hungarian government spends 52 percent on economic development and 36 percent on achieving environmental and climate goals. In this regard, Zsolt Feldman stated that the contribution of the agricultural sector to the green transition should be maintained, but farmers should be made interested in this process. The implementation of the KAP Strategic Plans is successful and in line with the preliminary plans – emphasized Christina Borchmann, director responsible for the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development. He added that the annual performance reports from each member state had arrived by the legal deadline, and they had been accepted one by one, and 17 of the CAP amendment proposals had already been approved by the Commission.
