Drugstores selling largest quantity of insecticides
According to the retail index of Nielsen, the market of insecticides expanded last year. Sales grew by 15 per cent in terms of volume, while by 6 per cent in terms of value. Total annual sales are nearly HUF 3 billion. Drugstores and hyper markets played a growing role in sales last year. Both types of stores increased their market share by 3 per cent respectively. Aerosols still account for most sales, though their dominance is diminishing, with market share down to 47 per cent from 51 a year before. Average prices were diverse in the largest segments. Aerosol prices grew as a result of the introduction of universal products, with an average price of HUF 549 this January/February. Electric insect killers were 9 per cent cheaper this January/February than a year ago.
