Turkish food company Dogus Cay is establishing its first plant outside Turkey in Orosháza, creating 440 jobs

He said that 10 million people live in Hungary, but Hungarian agriculture can produce enough food for 20 million people in a year. Last year, Hungarian agriculture set a record, its production value never before reaching 7,000 billion forints. Therefore, every agricultural investment, every food industry development is of paramount importance for Hungary – he underlined. The minister announced that the Turkish food company Dogus Cay is establishing its first plant outside of Turkey in Hungary, in Orosháza, to produce potato flakes, corn flakes and iced tea. The investment in Orosháza represents a value of 42 billion forints, the second most significant investment in the city’s history. Péter Szijjártó highlighted that the government is providing 8.3 billion forints in support of the investment, which will create 440 jobs in Orosháza. He said that 200 thousand tons of potatoes and 50 thousand tons of corn will be processed in Orosháza. This represents a huge opportunity for farmers in the area, as there will be long-term predictable demand for their crops, they will have long-term predictable income, and thus they will have predictable development opportunities.

Dogus Cay will seek “3,500 hectares of cooperation” in terms of industrial potato production, and will rely on Hungarian suppliers for 90 percent

At least 85 percent of the products produced here will be sold on foreign markets. Dogus Cay processes 2 million tons of food raw materials worldwide every year and is in contact with 70,000 farmers, he said. The minister said: this is the tenth time in recent years that they have been able to agree on an investment by a large Turkish company in Hungary. There is a friendly relationship between the governments of Turkey and Hungary, between the Turkish president and the Hungarian prime minister, so there are no political obstacles to economic, investment or trade cooperation. This investment will give another, great impetus to the development of Békés county, he said. Péter Szijjártó said: the investment will give a huge boost to the development of Orosháza. 440 new jobs will be created in the city, which will ensure a long-term secure livelihood for the people and families of Orosháza, he said.
