A degree does not equal a high salary and easy employment
The 2024-25 academic year will start soon: many new graduates already started looking for a job in August, while university students who want to work only appear on the labor market in the second half of September, when they are already looking for student work or internships adjusted to their schedule.
This is also used by companies planning to increase the number of employees, because in this period, with the acceleration of HR processes, they can find suitable new careers or interns in a short time and in larger numbers. Mind-Diák Szövetkezet, one of the country’s leading student cooperatives, has collected the professions most sought after by employers and their corresponding average wages, and offers tips to help young people who have not yet been accepted to the desired profession this year.
Summing up the numbers of full-time and correspondence courses, state scholarship and self-funded first-place applicants, the five most popular basic and undivided courses in this year’s admissions are farming and management (6801), psychology (4948), law (4178), nursing and patient care (3641) and trade and marketing (3581). As in the past years, this year too it was possible to get into the above majors with high scores, which may give many people the impression that these qualifications also promise good prospects on the labor market – quick employment, high salary. However, this is not true in all cases: today, popular majors do not necessarily offer the greatest earning potential – points out Róbert Göbl, head of the Mind-Diák Szövetkezet.
