Digitalisation doesn’t reduce demand for workforce, instead it increases it
A survey by ManpowerGroup – they interviewed 26,000 workers in 40 countries – has revealed that the coronavirus pandemic speeded up the digitalisation process at 38 percent of companies, and this happened hand in hand with an increase in demand for workforce. ManpowerGroup’s managing director Tamás Fehér pointed it out that the pandemic also accelerated the polarisation of workforce: workers with skills needed in sought-after jobs saw their situation improve further, while those who lack these skills found themselves in an even worse position than before.
38 percent of employers said that the pandemic gave a boost to their digitalisation and automation programmes. It is noteworthy that 86 percent of these companies will maintain the number of employees or will even increase it. 29 percent of firms with more than 250 employees plan to accelerate their digitalisation process. This proportion is 21 percent for medium-sized companies and 16 percent for those employing 10-49 people. //
