A recent survey by Costa Coffee and GKID investigated the sources of stress associated with the holidays
What makes most people happy during the holidays? Are we able to enjoy the little things or do we stress over the cracked bagels and crooked Christmas tree? This Christmas, Costa Coffee urges us to accept the possibility of mistakes and imperfection instead of the maximalism that dominates so many areas of life – that is why, in its joint research with GKID, it assessed whether we are able to enjoy Christmas. The results show that 70% of Hungarians cannot get through the holidays without stress or frustration, but at the same time, family gatherings or drinking a good coffee can compensate for negative emotions.
Every fifth respondent focuses on recharging at the end of the year during the holidays, while others plan for the next year (14%) and evaluate the past year at this time (10%). Of course, giving gifts is also a typical source of joy, nearly a quarter of the respondents feel better when they can give or receive a gift. In the case of younger age groups, the issue of gifts is even more important, and women also look forward to Christmas in a much higher proportion (27%) than men (17%) because of the surprises.
Opening presents (35%) and decorating the tree (32%) mean a great festive atmosphere for many. while wrapping presents is a preferred activity for only one in five respondents. For a quarter of the respondents, being at home without the obligatory time off gives them the best moments during this period. On the whole, women enjoy everything, even preparing the Christmas menu, more than men, for whom the moments of the holiday seem to have less importance.
