CEOSZ Izműves experience kitchen is not only for people living with diabetes
While leading active lifestyles, healthy eating and fitness competitions are becoming more and more fashionable in our appearance-focused world, for more than a million of our compatriots, this is not just a fad or a matter of vanity. Diabetics can only keep their condition under control and prevent life-threatening complications if, in addition to exercise, they are also aware in the kitchen.
However, this often runs into difficulties, as it is a particularly big challenge to put dishes on the family table that can make you forget their fattening counterparts. The National Association of Diabetic Associations (CEOSZ) has therefore launched the Artisan Experience Kitchen event series, which presents dietary and tasty alternatives to traditional Hungarian dishes, and not only those living with diabetes, but also their family members and all health-conscious interested parties are welcome to join the fun cooking together.
While social media is awash with photos of athletic opinion leaders and the fitness industry is more divisive than ever, the statistics seem to show a completely different picture. In recent years, our country has been ranked among the most obese European nations: two-thirds of Hungarians are overweight or obese, and we are also passing on the bad example of unhealthy eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle to the next generations. For this reason, it is unfortunately not surprising that diabetes has become a national disease, which according to current estimates will affect nearly 650 million people in the world by 2030. According to statistics, every 10th Hungarian lives with this metabolic disease, but it is likely that hundreds of thousands more do not know about their condition, and are already known as the “hallway” of diabetes.
