Tesco cuts value of Clubcard reward vouchers by 33%
Tesco is cutting its Clubcard reward vouchers for the second time in five years as it begins the switch to its new grocery app, resulting in customers earning 33% less through the scheme than before.
The UK’s largest supermarket has emailed members of the Clubcard loyalty scheme saying that as of 14 June, Clubcard vouchers will only be worth two times their previous value when exchanged at any of its reward partners.
Vouchers awarded by the retailer loyalty scheme are currently worth triple their value when exchanged with more than 100 reward partners, including entertainment venues and restaurants like Legoland and Pizza Express. This was initially reduced from four times their face value back in 2018.
It’s not the only money-saving change that has been made to the scheme in the last few months; back in November, Clubcard points were worth more than three times their face value when spent on ‘Delivery Saver’. This was changed, so they could only be redeemed at face value.
Tesco also launched its new grocery app at the end of last year with digital and personalised coupons, and recently issued a one-month warning for customers as it plans to axe the original Clubcard app.
