SPAR’s turnover neared HUF 800bn last year
In 2021 sales by SPAR Magyarország represented a value of HUF 791.8bn, having grown by 7.2% from the 2020 level – the retailer announced at a press conference on 24 March. CEO Zsolt Szalay told that they opened 6 new stores and modernised 19 existing ones last year. The chain continued installing self-checkouts and customers can now pay at these in 163 SPAR and INTERSPAR stores. Last year the SPAR Online Shop – which is now available in the bigger cities – completed almost 120,000 deliveries. SPAR Magyarország sells 4,300 private label products at the moment, and these realise one third of the chain’s total sales – informed managing director Gabriella Heiszler. She added that high quality, locally produced ‘SPAR HAZAI.SZERETEM’ products debuted in shops last August.
