Retail sales strengthened
The growth in retail sales continued in August. Store sales were 4.6 percent higher than in the same period of last year, after the 4.2 percent growth in June and the 5.2 percent growth in June. The calendar effect adjusted data was the same in August as the unadjusted index – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported its first estimate on Wednesday.
Growth in non-food retail stores continued to grow by 7.7 percent, but the calendar effect adjusted 2.6 percent increase in fuel sales was somewhat lower than the 2.9 percent increase in retail food and mixed retail sales. (MTI)
