Payment discipline in Hungary fell to the level of 2015
After an improving trend until 2019, the proportion of late payments and bad debts increased significantly as a result of the pandemic and the energy crisis.
Exactly 76% of bills are paid by Hungarian customers, which is roughly the same as the rate in Central and Eastern Europe, but 3 percentage points below the European average (79%). This rate roughly corresponds to the payment discipline of 7 years ago. After 2019, EOS Group, one of Europe’s leading accounts receivable management companies, once again examined the payment habits of the general public and the corporate sector in a comprehensive research. In the research, about 3,200 decision-makers from 16 countries were asked about the payment habits of corporate and private customers.
