The physical average hourly wage rose by 13.5 percent to over HUF 2,100 in the second quarter
In the second quarter of this year, the average gross hourly wage of skilled and trained workers performing physical work was HUF 2,104, according to Trenkwalder’s analysis, which processed the wage data of nearly 7,000 people. This level is 13.5 percent higher than the HUF 1,853 value experienced in the same period of the previous year. The increase in wages also remained intense in the higher wage categories: Moore Hungary experienced a wage increase of 10.7 percent compared to the second quarter of 2023 for about 500 middle managers of more than 60, mostly internationally owned domestic companies.
The statistics with a geographical breakdown show that while the average hourly wage in Northern Hungary, the Northern Great Plain, and the Southern Transdanubia ranges between HUF 1,750-1,900, this indicator is already over HUF 2,000 in the other regions. Central Transdanubia and Central Hungary, which also includes the capital, jump out of this field: in the former region, the average hourly wage is already 2,300 forints, and in the latter areas this value has already reached the level of 2,750 forints.
“This was the third quarter in which, as a result of declining inflation, employees could once again experience a strong increase in real wages, which can already compensate for the negative effects of significant price increases in recent years
– said Viktor Hamrák, Trenkwalder’s service director.
