PENNY reduced its energy consumption by 10%
Since 2018, the discount food chain has been working continuously to increase its energy efficiency and reduce its ecological footprint. Almost 6 years ago, the company introduced the ISO 50001 energy management system into its daily operations, which, in addition to continuous development, also supports the company’s energy-conscious operation.
Environmental protection measures are extremely important in the operation of PENNY, which is why it continuously improves its energy efficiency with the help of the latest technological solutions. Over the past years, PENNY has successfully installed solar panels on 48 of its stores and two logistics centers and installed heat pump systems in 44 of its stores. In addition, several environmentally conscious elements have been added to its renewed image, which helps the energy efficiency of the buildings. This includes, for example, the optimization of cooling technology temperature and LED lighting periods.
