Inflation slowed in the euro area and in the EU
In March, the annual rise in consumer prices slowed in the euro zone and in the European Union.
Eurostat confirmed inflation in March in the 19 countries sharing the euro slowed down to 1.5 percent year-on-year from a four year high of 2.0 percent that was recorded in February.
In the 28-member EU, consumer prices rose 1.6 percent in March compared with a year before. Annual price increases amounted to 2.0 percent in February, 1.7 percent in January and 1.2 percent in December. (MTI)
