The ripening of grapes is ten days ahead in the vineyards in Villány
This year, the ripening of grapes take place ten days earlier in the Villány wine region. it is expected that havest to start earlier than average – Ipacs Szabó István, vice president of the Mountain Village council of the 2500-hectare wine-growing region told, who also predicted a good vintage for this year.
The winemaker said: Due to the dry and warm weather until Medard’s day, the vines flourished 2-3 weeks earlier – around 10 May. Instead of the average 8-10 plant protection interventions, the farmers had to protect this year only five to seven times so far, there was not a significant amount of ice damage – he added. (MTI)
