The adaptability of Hungarian livestock breeding gives hope for a successful future
The past 150 years also prove the ability of Hungarian animal husbandry to cope with current challenges, stated Zsolt Feldman, the State Secretary responsible for agriculture and rural development of the Ministry of Agriculture, at the opening of the KÁN University Days in Kaposvár on Friday.
In his opening speech, the state secretary explained: Hungarian animal husbandry has always successfully adapted to the expectations of its time and met its challenges, which gives hope for a successful future despite the existing difficulties. The Ministry of Agriculture is committed to providing the necessary conditions for livestock breeding with all available means, even in the difficult situation caused by the current energy crisis and drought. To this end, the agricultural loan moratorium, the extraordinary interest subsidy for working capital financing, and the energy cost subsidy for the manufacturing industry are also available – highlighted Zsolt Feldman. The KÁN University Days effectively serve the purpose of giving visitors a real picture of animal husbandry, and farmers can find the latest and most advanced information and knowledge related to the profession here, the state secretary continued.
During the compilation of the CAP, all aspects were taken into account
Zsolt Feldman spoke at the round table discussion organized as part of the Rural Development Conference following the opening, about the fact that Hungarian agriculture and the food industry are extremely diverse and multifaceted, which gives both its beauty and its difficulties from an agrarian policy point of view. In the past period, the most important principle for planning and spending agricultural subsidies was to increase the added value in agriculture. The Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan for the period up to 2027 was created in such a way that it meets all the professional expectations that arise today in terms of the development of agriculture and the food industry in Hungary. The state secretary also touched on the fact that the efficiency of international market competition is greatly influenced by the ability and willingness of companies to cooperate.
