Consumer sentiment decreased in the United States
Consumer sentiment in the United States deteriorated to an unprecedented extent and even more than expected in April as a result of the new coronavirus pandemic – according to a standard monthly survey by the University of Michigan.
According to preliminary data released on Thursday, the value of the consumer sentiment index fell by 18.1 points to 71.0 points from 89.1 points in March. Analysts expected a better value of 75.0 points.
Such a strong monthly decline has never been recorded. The sentiment index fell by 30 points in April and March, which is 50 percent more than the previous record. (MTI)
