Shrinking expo markets, but it is better than expected
The economic crisis affected the exhibitions and the events as well. Less exhibitors, renting less exhibition spaces on fairs and on exhibitions. Downturn was 10 percent so far, however, the president of the event oraganisers expected worse.
Szalma Béla president of the Hungarian Association of Event Organisers (MARESZ) last year, accounted with the reduction of the exhibitors with 20-30 percent, and with a 20 percent in the number of the visitors. A smaller proportion, about ten percent decrease occurred in both areas. According to the president of Hungarian Association of Event Organisers; most companies do not risk skipping the trade fairs and conferences, but rent a smaller area, with fewer staff for the events. A further decline is expected for the second half of next year. According to Tornyai Péter, the Head of Exhibition Organization and Implementation Branch (MARESZ), the companies are trying to attract participants to trade fairs and exhibitions by various methods like e-mail, leaflets and adverts. Other companies represents themselves even in foreign fairs. However, the economic downturn caused by the crisis, has not only drawbacks: the market is getting clearer – reports Népszabadság Online.
