Gel fix and preserving sugar on top of the list
According to the Retail Index of Nielsen, preservation of fruits at home is becoming more popular. Sales grew by 43 per cent in terms of value between February 2006 –January 2007, compared to the period a year earlier, approaching HUF 1 billion. June and July is the peak season for preserving fruits and vegetables. More than a half of total annual sales are generated in these two months. .Gel fixes account for over a half of retail sales, while pickles are second. The first is a growing category, while the second is in decline. In terms of quantity, preserving sugar is the first, ahead of pickles. Three-quarters of annual sales are generated in the June-September season.
