Bonduelle also helped with canned vegetables and sweets
The charitable cooperation between Bonduelle Central Europe Kft. and the Hungarian Food Bank Association reached its twentieth year in 2025. Over the past year, the company contributed HUF 222 million worth of product donations to the Association’s work helping those in need, and at the end of the year it also supported the compilation of Santa Claus packages for 12,000 children in need.
The Hungarian Food Bank Association has been working with retail chains, food manufacturers and catering establishments for many years to collect their unnecessary but usable supplies and provide assistance to a wide range of people in need. The organization supports 250,000 needy people and families each year with products that are typically close to their expiration date or have defective packaging. Food rescue also has an additional positive aspect: the collected surpluses do not burden the environment with their decomposition. The importance of combating waste is clearly demonstrated by the fact that 8-10 percent of greenhouse gases generated on the planet can be attributed to food produced but not consumed.
Hundreds of thousands of cans of health
Bonduelle Central Europe Kft. is one of the oldest supporters of the Food Bank’s work: it has been tirelessly delivering food to the Association’s warehouse for nearly 20 years. Although the magical ten millionth can was delivered two years ago, the company still donated 106,000 kilos of food to the noble cause in 2024. Non-perishable foods are a huge help to people living in difficult situations, as these products that are close to their expiration date or are packaged differently than standard do not need to be consumed immediately, so food can be delivered to families living in poor financial situations even at the end of the month, i.e. on the most difficult days.
“In addition to our duty to support those in need, we can do this with products that are not only durable and delicious, but also rich in vitamins and nutrients. Everyone should be given the opportunity to eat healthy and varied meals and we are happy that we can contribute to this through the Food Bank Association,” said András Szirbek, Commercial and Marketing Director of Bonduelle Central Europe Kft.
